Maharashtra Launches Free Travel Scheme For Citizens


The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) Launched a free travel scheme for senior citizens who are aged above 75 years. Moreover, MSRTC said that this facility can only be availed by showing identity proof documents like PAN card, Aadhaar Card, driving license, Voter's Card, etc.

Though MSRTC said that this free bus facility will be available for Intra-state travel and not for city buses.

The MSRDC’s Shekhar Channe (Vice chairman and general manager),  said those who are eligible for this free travel scheme will get a fare refund if they had booked their tickets before August 26.

Also, The MSRTC said citizens between the age of 65 and 75 would get a 50 percent rebate on intra-state ticket fares.

Notably, the MSRTC has a fleet of more than 16,000 buses and used to ferry almost 65 lakh passengers per day before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.
